I know this is kind of silly and everyone does it, but here it is:

I got back the second paper I wrote for my writing seminar last Thursday, and I was just now looking at it to make sure there were no major corrections I needed to make. In so doing I realized that "this is nice" or "good work" comments outnumbered suggestions for improvement. This is exciting! It's also giving me hope, since I wrote that one quickly and thought it would come out terribly, and the same is true of the third one that I'm working on now.

Don't forget to bring copies of any writing you've done recently, okay? I really want to see what you guys have been up to. We should find a coffeeshop and sit around marking up each other's stories with red pen, for old times sake. :p

Started at Java Joy today. Now I am tired (not helped by the fact that I came home to a stack of tax forms I had to fill out for my other job). Also I smell like cocoa powder. And there was very very little business, which was okay with me.

Hung out with Ami last night after Academy Awards. Enjoyed it. Drank too much coffee and didn't sleep enough, contributing to tiredness. BAH.

I'm so proud of myself. I finally have a solid first draft on the story I've been wrestling with for months. (Isn't it awful that it takes me THAT LONG to just figure out what the hell wants to happen?) I'm revising for structure right now, mainly--trying to get all the good stuff to happen in the right places--but it's just such a relief to have a story at all. It's like a milestone when I switch from typewriter to computer (I do all my drafting on a typewriter where I can't go back and change shit, because otherwise I'll fiddle with my first sentence all day and never get anything done).

YAY!

I am eating a spoonful of peanut butter with chocolate chips pressed into it.

Central's prom was last night, and I had an absolutely superbly fantastic time (during the part where I wasn't sleeping under a table). I have eighteen pictures documenting it. They are under the cut, and they are all medium-sized at least, so if your computer is very slow, do not even try. I'm happy to email these to anybody who wants them, or you can just save them onto your computer from here.
